25 November 2024
In today’s fast-paced world, groundbreaking research often lays the foundation for tomorrow’s commercial technologies. But when the moment arrives to bring your innovative concepts to life, does your current design and analysis software meet the challenge? If not, consider SOLIDWORKS Research Edition as the bridge to take your ideas to the next level.
SOLIDWORKS Research Edition: Flexibility Without Restrictions
The SOLIDWORKS Research Edition empowers researchers by removing common limitations. It can be used freely for publications, industry-funded initiatives, intellectual property transfers, and patent filings – all without an educational watermark. This allows you to present your work professionally and seamlessly. Moreover, with updates aligned to the commercial release schedule, your tools and designs remain cutting-edge.
Affordable Pricing for Eligible Institutions
Qualified organisations can access Research Licenses at half the recommended retail price vs. a Commercial SOLIDWORKS Licence.
To take advantage of this discount, new licenses must include at least one year of subscription service. Please note, however, that Home Use Licenses are not part of this offering. If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
Who Qualifies for a SOLIDWORKS Research License?
SOLIDWORKS Research Licenses are specifically tailored for use by colleges, universities, research labs, teaching hospitals, non-profits, and consortia. However, eligibility excludes for-profit companies, commercial research centers, technology incubators, accelerators, public libraries, museums, outreach programs, fab labs, maker spaces, and similar organisations.
Important Restrictions
Certain institutions, such as government-funded research centers and national laboratories, are ineligible for Research License pricing, regardless of previous qualifications. Similarly, entities like technology incubators, spin-offs, tech transfer initiatives, and hobby-focused spaces are not eligible – even if operating under non-profit status. Additionally, individuals affiliated with universities (students, professors, or staff) cannot use Research Licenses for personal consulting or freelance work.
